The signs were there

Magnolias in the snow.

A few strange things happened the spring before I woke up to my new life—foreshadowing of what would follow immediately thereafter.

My jaw, which had been giving me problems for years, became unhinged and reset itself in a way that ended my problems but took some months to get back into alignment. Even as I was going through it, I knew it was symbolic of some kind of shift that was happening to me in the larger sense. My awakening that summer took me completely off the course I had been on and placed me on a new one, which required a period of adjustment. It was deeply uncomfortable and confusing, but I’m so grateful for all of it because I can’t imagine having gone on the way I was before.

Also, I took this self portrait and afterward people kept telling me that it looked like I was in conversation with the light. That’s exactly what I’ve been doing ever since.

The signs are all there, waiting to be seen. As of this moment, I’m in Bend, OR with a friend who has come into my life as a result of our awakenings (see episode five of The Glimmering), and we’ve delighted in pointing out all of the guidance, big and small, that has been raining down on us, gently carrying us along on a current of love.
